3/31/10

Good morning! Here's an update on what our group has been up to the last few weeks:

President's Day week was a busy day, partaking in two different events. First, on President's Day, we hosted our annual debate with the College Republicans. The topics debated were Healthcare and the Economy. Ashley Goettl, our Vice-Chair, and Richard Simones, our Treasurer, proudly represented the College Republicans. There was a lower attendance than in previous years, but still a fun time nonetheless. Looking forward to next year's debate already.

Later in the week, Richard Simones and John Hanley represented UW-River Falls at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington DC. Among the speakers at the event included Tim Pawlenty, Newt Gingrich and Glenn Beck. Our representatives mingled among the many Republicans and Conservatives present at this highly successful event.

This past week, we had the pleasure of having two guest speakers at our meeting. First we had Bruce Evers, who is challenging Dan Kapanke for the Republican nomination to challenge Ron Kind for US Congress, 3rd District. He layed out some of his goals if elected. We wish him all the best. Second, we had Crystal Lee, Chair of the UW-Madison College Republicans. She is preparing us for WICR Convention coming up April 23-25 in Madison. She's got a lot of fun activities planned once our business is finished.

Stay tuned for more updates.
